USCIS Introduces New Online Change of Address Tool

Erick Widman

USCIS has announced a new way to update your address online: Enterprise Change of Address, or E-COA.

Launched on October 12, 2023, the E-COA self-service tool allows USCIS customers to more easily update their addresses for any pending applications, petitions, or requests directly from their USCIS online account. This update is a positive step toward optimizing the speed and efficiency of routine USCIS processes.

Keeping your address updated with USCIS has always been a headache. Individuals have to navigate multiple systems and platforms to ensure all their information is up-to-date, often needing to fill out separate requests for every individual form that they have submitted. In some cases, applicants have needed to fill out and mail a paper AR-11 (Alien’s Change of Address Card), make phone calls to the Contact Center, or make physical visits to the USCIS Field or Asylum Office.

But now, with the E-COA tool, you can make these updates in one centralized location, making the process significantly easier.

Who can use E-COA?

Almost anyone with a USCIS online account can utilize the E-COA tool. Whether your pending case was submitted online or by traditional mail, you can access and benefit from this tool. However, there are exceptions. The tool isn’t currently available for some application types, including VAWA, T Visas, and U Visas. If you fall under these categories, USCIS provides alternate methods to update your address.

How do you use E-COA?

The procedure is straightforward:

  1. Log into your USCIS online account.
  2. Provide your last name, date of birth, and your new physical and mailing addresses.
  3. For a smoother process, it’s recommended to include details about any pending application, petition, or request.
